Navajo Cradleboard- Awéétsáál are a traditional protective baby carrier. The back board signifies Nahasdzáán Nihimá (Our Mother earth), while the left board signifies Yádiłhił (Father sky). The two boards are laced as one with leather buckskin. The upper end of the board is cut to form a V-shape. The V-shape each have two small holes which signify Ears. The arch wood signifies Nááts'íilid (rainbow), this gives security for a child’s head. The buckskin loops back-and-forth on the sides of the board, when laced it represent Atsiniltł'ish (lightening). This small adorable cradleboard can be place in your home as a Navajo traditional decorative wall piece.
