Since that time, metals were discovered and pendants have been made worldwide. Some of the most beautiful pendants were made for royal families and the wealthly. These pendants were often made with diamonds and other precious stones set in all types of metals.

The arrival of the Spanish to the Southwest region of North America allowed Navajo silversmiths to make various types of pendants with silver. The silver pendants were made with different designs and one of the more famous pendants designs is the "Naja." The "Naja" is a prominent design in Navajo pendants even today.
