Some blankets do not fall into any specific and distinctive rug categories. Indeed, each year as many Non-Regional rugs may be woven as are specific-distinctive rugs, excepting saddle blankets. Thus a rough guess at production would be: 50 percent saddle blankets; 25 percent general rugs; 25 percent specific-distinctive rugs.
The Non-Regional rug is the rug whose design, quality, and color do not distinguish it as being from any particular locale. They may be plain stripes or geometric patterns with or without border. Such rugs are made throughout the Reservation. Sizes vary greatly-3x5, 4x6 feet, even larger (16x22 feet) as do prices. Each year, many Non-Regional rugs may be woven as are rugs of specific designs, except saddle blankets. A rough guess at production would be: 50 percent saddle blankets: 25 percent Non-Regional rugs: 25 percent rugs of specific designs.
