Navajo Basket Mug – The Navajo Basket, also sometimes called a Navajo wedding basket, carries great significance in the traditional way of life of the Navajo people. It is often used in Navajo ceremonies. The symbols and colors within the basket reflect many values of traditional life that involve the beginning of earth, life itself and the six sacred mountains. The six sacred mountains are Mt. Hesperus (Dibe Nitsaa – Big Mountain Sheep), Mt. Taylor (Tsoodzil – Turquoise Mountain), Huerfano Mesa (Dzil Na’oodilli – Holy People Mountain), Mt. Blanco (Tsisnaasjini’ – White Shell Mountain), San Francisco Peaks (Doko’oosliid – Abalone Shell Mountain), and Gobernador Knob (Ch’oolii – Sacred Mountain in old Navajoland).
