Description

This lovely sandcast sterling silver belt buckle, with an attractive single stone Bisbee Turquoise. The plain bezel around the stone gives a stunning look. It’s place in the center of the buckle and was cast in a carved-out tufa stone (sandcast) by Navajo jewelry artist, Lucy Dickson. The Bisbee is deep blue with smoky host rock matrix. Buckle has a corn stock design in the middle with some curves. The basis of this process is a mold made by carving the desired design into a stone. Following the completion of the stone mold, the silver is heated in a crucible with a torch until it is the right temperature. When the silver is judged to be hot enough, it is poured into the mold through the previously carved channel.
